US Forest Service @ UW – Jan 26-28th for summer internships

The Willamette and Siuslaw National Forests will be hiring around 300 students for this coming field season.  The opportunities are diverse.  A student could work as a wildland firefighter, wilderness crew member,  biological technician in forestry, fisheries, or botany.  I am personally recruiting for 2 fisheries technicians to work for me this summer doing stream survey and habitat restoration monitoring work.  There is great work to be done on the National Forests and we will be present to discuss specific job options with students on campus at the end of the month.  Typical summer employees earn from $10.95/hr to 13.41/hr.  It is a great way to get field experience and a foot in the door towards “Working for the Great Outdoors”!

We are entering our hiring cycle and are looking for interested applicants.   We will be visiting the UW from January 26th through the 28th. During that time we will be available to talk with students on a drop in basis as well as conduct interviews.  I have time slots for interviews on all three days and would like for students to submit resumes now for evaluation so that we may schedule some interviews while I’m on campus.
