NOAA’s Manchester Research Station in Port Orchard is looking for a volunteer interested in participating in a project from roughly February through the summer.
We will be collecting lingcod eggs from January to March, and rearing the eggs at Manchester through the summer. We are looking for a volunteer to participate in the rearing of the eggs. Monetary compensation is not available, so this position is best suited for a person who is interested in gaining experience with fish husbandry and research. The work would range from tank cleaning and fish feeding to opportunities for independent projects in areas such as live feeds, artificial feeds, fish behavior, and general rearing methodology. Hours will be flexible, though we are looking for someone who can work a minimum of a half-day per week; more hours is preferred depending on the volunteer’s schedule. The volunteer would be working with Matt Cook, one of our staff scientists.
If interested, please contact Matt Cook (Matt.Cook@noaa.gov).
