Student will be working for the National Marine Fisheries Service at their Northwest Regional office located at 7600 Sand Point Way NE in Seattle, Washington. Student will be doing work related to management of the Pacific Coast groundfish fishery.
This part-time position will be hired under the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). Up to 1 student trainee position (in ocean resource management) will be available in Seattle, Washington. Placement will begin in June 2010. Position offers flexible hours and competitive pay (depending on experience).
– Participating in drafting basic research permits for ocean sampling projects
– Assisting in the monitoring of catches of Pacific coast groundfish
– Maintaining and writing documents that either: summarize fishery regulations; collect fishery information; track permit applications and appeals; track comments from the public on fishery matters; etc.
– Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree seeking student in an accredited college or university and be taking at least a half-time academic course load in Fall 2010.
