Interested in the 2011 Environmental Innovation Challenge?

Check out this Fall Quarter class that helps prepare students for the Environmental Innovation Challenge:

The “Environmental Innovation Practicum” is cross-listed ENTRE 490/579, ENGR 498, ENVIR 450  and focuses on innovations in clean tech (attached). We’d really like to see more students from oceanography, forestry, atmospheric sciences, earth and space science, marine affairs, as well as POE and POCC, in the Practicum in Fall and then the Challenge next April.

This year’s Challenge was exactly what we wanted to see:  19 teams passionate about the finding solutions to environment problems, technology ideas brought to life, and exceptional networking among the judges and the teams. Teams in the Challenge have to produce a prototype, write a 5 to 7 page business summary of the market opportunity, and talk about the potential for impact of their idea. We just surveyed the teams who participated in this year’s Challenge and, on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent), they gave the Challenge a 4.6 as a “learning experience.”

We’ve produced a 4-minute video of the EIC to share with you all and to help us get the word out about the UW Environmental Innovation Challenge for next year:   UW EIC 2010 Video
